Job Description
Bring your expertise as a Sign Language Interpreter to an impactful educational setting supporting a 5th grade student in a Life Skills classroom. This onsite opportunity offers a rewarding chance to make a daily difference by facilitating inclusive, accessible learning for a student who benefits from sign language services. The assignment spans the school year, from August 19, 2026, through June 2, 2027, with a consistent weekday schedule of 35 hours per week (7:20 am–2:10 pm).
Key qualifications:
- Valid and current EIPA score of 3.5 or higher, as required
- Experience providing sign language interpretation in school environments
- Strong understanding of the needs of students in Life Skills programs
- Ability to work effectively in collaboration with teachers, staff, and other professionals
- Commitment to maintaining professional boundaries and confidentiality
- Adaptability, reliability, and excellent interpersonal skills
Primary responsibilities:
- Deliver one-on-one sign language interpretation to support communication for a 5th grade student
- Facilitate student access to instruction, classroom activities, and social interactions throughout the school day
- Collaborate with teachers and staff to foster an inclusive environment tailored to the student’s needs
- Adjust interpreting strategies as appropriate for varied classroom settings and activities
- Provide feedback and input as needed to support the student's educational goals
