Position: Patient Care Technician (PCT) – Southside Regional Medical CenterJob Overview:

The Patient Care Technician (PCT) plays a vital role in delivering basic healthcare and support to patients under the supervision of a Registered Nurse or designated healthcare professional. As a member of our team, the PCT is tasked with cleaning and sanitizing patient rooms, monitoring health and vital signs, and assisting patients with essential needs such as feeding and grooming.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Deliver basic patient care, including comfort measures, vital sign monitoring, personal hygiene assistance, and mobility support, along with unit-specific duties.
  • Serve as a communication link between patients and nurses to relay any changes or concerns.
  • Provide exceptional customer service to patients, their families, visitors, and fellow employees.
  • Ensure accurate and timely documentation related to patient care when necessary.
  • Participate in hand-off reports to share relevant patient and departmental information during shift changes.
  • Perform assigned tasks once competency has been confirmed.
  • Assist in patient mobility using safe transfer techniques that promote independence.
  • Encourage patients to engage in tasks independently whenever possible.
  • Tailor care to align with patients' interests and hobbies.
Qualifications:Education:
  • No formal education requirements.
Licensure/Certification:
  • BLS Basic Life Support certification is preferred upon hire; must be obtained from an approved source before providing direct patient care.
  • Completion of one of the following is required:
    • Successful completion of a nursing aide training program, OR
    • Passing the STNA State Tested Nurse Aide exam (required for Ohio LTC), OR
    • CNA Certified Nurse Aide certification, OR
    • Completion of a nursing program that included one clinical nursing course and one clinical rotation, OR
    • One year of relevant experience in a clinical environment.
Experience:
  • Preferred experience in acute care, physician's office, home health/hospice, or long-term care settings, particularly in the area of application.
Skills & Abilities:
  • Strong problem-solving capabilities along with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to engage professionally with both staff and patients.
  • Proactive approach in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.
Training:
  • EPIC Electronic Health Record (EHR) training is preferred.
Compensation:
  • Minimum: $16.76
  • Maximum: $24.65
