Job Description

Job Summary

We are seeking a Bilingual Field Retail Ambassador for a direct hire opportunity supporting Asian supermarket and ethnic grocery channels throughout Southern California and the broader West Coast. This role is ideal for a retail merchandising, grocery field sales, or DSD professional who enjoys building store-level relationships, improving product visibility, and representing imported food brands in a fast-paced retail environment. Interested candidates must come from the food/beverage industry.

The Bilingual Field Retail Ambassador will visit assigned stores, audit shelf conditions, support new product launches, monitor inventory and pricing, gather competitive insights, and help identify opportunities for expanded distribution and stronger in-store execution. This is a highly visible field role with strong partnership across sales, operations, store teams, and regional market contacts.

This opportunity offers a supportive, team-oriented environment with hands-on leadership, consistent field support, and the chance to grow within a stable food and beverage business serving high-demand retail channels. Candidates who are detail-oriented, self-motivated, relationship-driven, and familiar with Asian grocery retail will thrive in this role.

Key Responsibilities

- Manage a consistent field route across Asian supermarket accounts, including Chinese, Korean, Japanese, Filipino, Vietnamese, and other specialty ethnic grocery channels.
- Audit shelves, endcaps, refrigerated sections, freezer cases, promotional areas, and secondary displays to ensure strong product visibility and brand compliance.
- Monitor shelf placement, pricing, tags, facings, stock rotation, inventory levels, expiration dates, and product condition while reporting concerns promptly.
- Support new item introductions, seasonal promotions, demos, resets, planograms, product sampling, and retail display execution.
- Build professional relationships with store managers, department leads, receivers, grocery supervisors, and store-level decision-makers.
- Submit timely field reports with photos, visit notes, competitor activity, pricing updates, out-of-stock issues, display results, and growth opportunities.

Required Qualifications and Skills

- Service assigned retail accounts and execute store-level merchandising standards across Asian supermarket channels.
- Support new product launches, promotional displays, resets, demos, and in-store brand execution.
- Monitor inventory, shelf conditions, pricing, product quality, and competitive activity during store visits.
- Provide actionable field feedback to sales and operations teams to support growth and account performance.

- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university is required.
- 3 to 5 years of experience in retail merchandising, grocery field sales, DSD, route sales, business development, or store-level account service.
- Strong understanding of grocery merchandising, shelf resets, endcaps, promotional displays, planograms, and retail execution standards.
- Experience working with supermarkets, ethnic grocery channels, imported food products, frozen or refrigerated items, snacks, beverages, noodles, sauces, seafood, or bakery categories.
- Comfortable using a smartphone for photo uploads, visit notes, mileage tracking, field reports, and mobile retail reporting tools.
- Valid driver's license, reliable insured vehicle, and ability to travel between assigned store locations.
- Strong professional communication skills, attention to detail, follow-through, organization, and ability to work independently in the field.
- Ability to represent the brand professionally while maintaining strong product knowledge and positive store-level relationships.

Preferred Qualifications

- Bilingual or multilingual fluency, with Mandarin or Cantonese strongly preferred.
- Hands-on experience with imported Asian food brands, frozen and refrigerated lines, shelf-stable groceries, snacks, beverages, or instant noodles.
- Background supporting in-store product demonstrations, promotional events, distributor sales teams, retail buyer visits, roadshows, or trade events.
- Strong commercial instincts with the ability to identify incremental display opportunities, premium shelf positioning, expanded distribution, and promotional growth opportunities.

Compensation and Benefits

- Direct hire opportunity.
- Salary range: $60,000 to $80,000 per year.
- Primary territory includes Los Angeles, the San Gabriel Valley, Orange County, the Inland Empire, and surrounding Southern California markets.
- Occasional extended travel may include San Diego, Central California, the Bay Area, Sacramento, Las Vegas, Phoenix, Portland, Seattle, or other West Coast markets based on business needs.
