Position: MRI Technologist Assistant – St. Mary's HospitalJob Overview:

The MRI Technologist Assistant plays a vital role in our team by managing phone communications, interacting with patients and their families, and coordinating with staff. Responsibilities include verifying scripts and patient schedules, conducting patient interviews to gather medical history, assisting patients on and off scanning tables, monitoring patients clinically, and transporting them to and from the department. Additional tasks involve cleaning and stocking rooms, along with other general duties as required.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Complete assigned tasks within appropriate timeframes, demonstrating adaptability to workload changes.
  • Ensure controlled access to the MRI room.
  • Engage professionally with physicians, technologists, hospital staff, and patients' families.
  • Accurately confirm information during appointment check-ins.
  • Prepare MRI cases by verifying details from external exams and scanning patient authorization forms.
  • Welcome and guide patients to changing rooms, reviewing paperwork and briefly explaining procedures. After exams, escort patients back and prepare the exam room for subsequent procedures.
  • Facilitate efficient workflow by preparing the next patient before the current exam concludes.
  • Assist technologists with screening patients, including inpatients, emergency room patients, and outpatients.
  • Notify technical staff of any patient implants or safety concerns identified during screenings.
  • Support technologists with patient positioning and equipment handling.

Education Requirements:
  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent (mandatory)
Licensing & Certifications:
  • BLS Basic Life Support certification from the American Heart Association (required at hire for specific locations; preferred at hire, mandatory before independent patient care)
Experience:
  • Preferred: 1 year of experience in an MRI department within a hospital setting
Skills & Abilities:
  • Basic computer proficiency

  • Excellent communication abilities
  • Knowledge of MRI safety protocols
Training Preferences:
  • Familiarity with EPIC Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems (preferred)
  • Experience with Picture Archiving Communication System (PACS) (preferred)
Compensation Range:

Minimum: $20.97 | Maximum: $31.47
