Position: Logistics Analyst 2
Location: Morton, IL – Onsite
Pay Rate: $21/hr
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 7:30 AM–4:00 PM
Duration: 24 months
Start Date: August 31, 2026
This role focuses on material planning, procurement coordination, inventory management, and supplier performance within Caterpillar's manufacturing and logistics operations. It's a great opportunity for someone with logistics, supply chain, or material planning experience who is comfortable working with multiple internal and external stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities:
- Coordinate the flow of materials within the manufacturing facility.
- Schedule inbound materials and coordinate material transfers between inventory and warehouses.
- Develop and execute material planning for assigned product lines.
- Ensure material requirements are fulfilled within required timelines.
- Schedule and control the release of materials.
- Monitor material inventory at the plant, warehouse, and critical suppliers.
- Build and follow up on procurement plans to ensure alignment with business objectives.
- Track and analyze supplier performance metrics.
- Communicate and collaborate with suppliers to ensure timely material deliveries.
- Facilitate the movement of goods inbound and resolve material planning issues.
- Resolve MRP exceptions and minimize material shortages or delays.
- Work with suppliers to confirm shipment schedules and delivery dates.
- Address logistics discrepancies, finance tickets, and product group escalations.
- Analyze root causes of supply chain and material planning issues and develop solutions.
- Maintain accurate logistics and planning records using Microsoft Office and related systems.
- Collaborate with internal teams, external suppliers, and various Caterpillar product groups.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED required.
- 2–4 years of related experience.
- Experience in logistics, supply chain, material planning, procurement, or a similar field.
- Microsoft Office experience, particularly Excel and Word.
- Knowledge of Manufacturing Requirements Planning (MRP).
- Experience with forecasting and material planning processes.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
- Strong relationship-building and stakeholder management skills.
- SAP Mach1 experience is a plus.
- Supplier Chain or Logistics Planning Analyst experience is highly relevant.
- Must be comfortable working onsite in Morton, IL.
- Potential for limited domestic travel.
