Exciting contract opportunities are available for Special Education Teachers eager to make a meaningful difference in students’ lives near Springfield, VT. Dedicated educators with a passion for innovative instruction are encouraged to apply for three onsite positions, serving the 2026-2027 school year.
Licensed Special Education professionals are needed to support distinct student populations in a collaborative, forward-thinking environment. Two openings focus on a pilot program at the high school level, teaching students with executive functioning needs, Autism, and severe behavioral challenges. The program emphasizes real-world employment skills and life preparation, including tech center integration. Candidates who demonstrate flexibility, creativity, and a collaborative spirit will thrive in this evolving setting.
The third position is situated within an elementary team of four special educators, supporting students with learning disabilities across reading, writing, and math, as well as high-functioning Autism. Occupational and physical therapy staff are embedded within the classroom, fostering a multidisciplinary approach to student growth.
Required Qualifications:
- Valid Vermont Professional Teaching License with one of the following endorsements: Special Educator, Special Education Consulting Teacher, or Intensive Special Education Teacher
- Experience supporting students with Autism, executive function needs, and/or learning disabilities
- Proven flexibility, teamwork skills, and innovative instructional strategies
- Fingerprinting clearance (approved fingerprints from recent VT school assignment are acceptable)
Role Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement Individualized Education Plans (IEPs)
- Apply evidence-based strategies for academic, behavioral, and life skills instruction
- Collaborate with PT/OT and related service providers
- Foster a supportive and inclusive classroom environment
Contract details include a 35-hour workweek from August 19, 2026, through June 14, 2027.
