Make a direct impact on students’ lives as an Adaptive Physical Education Teacher in the New Orleans area. This contract position will have you working across 2-3 school locations, supporting diverse student needs while using your expertise to foster inclusion and growth. Qualifications and Experience:

  • Valid Adaptive Physical Education (APE) teaching certification preferred; minimum requirement is a Physical Education teacher license.
  • Experience working with students who require adaptive physical education services.
  • Reliable transportation and willingness to travel between multiple school sites.
  • Flexibility and excellent organizational skills, essential for managing services itinerantly.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with staff and adapt to changing student caseloads.
  • Successful completion of drug screening and district fingerprinting is required.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Deliver adaptive physical education services for students ages preschool through high school, as determined by caseload demands.
  • Rotate between 2-3 assigned school campuses on the East or West Bank, according to district assignment.
  • Assess student abilities, develop individualized education plans (IEPs), and monitor progress toward goals.
  • Maintain timely documentation of services and communicate regularly with school staff and caregivers.
  • Schedule and adapt your services around changing district priorities and student needs.

Schedule Options:

  • Full-time: 35 hours per week following the school calendar, with a start as soon as possible through the end of May 2026.
  • Part-time schedules may be considered if a minimum of three 7-hour days per week (with 30-minute lunch) can be committed, including adequate planning time.
