We are excited to announce an opening for a Regional Medical Director of Perinatal Care/Maternal-Fetal Medicine (MFM) at our facilities located in Harlem, Lincoln, and Metropolitan. This role will be under the guidance of the Department Chair and will involve leading our dedicated teams focused on high-risk obstetrics and perinatal care.
The selected candidate will deliver exceptional, evidence-based, and patient-centered care to pregnant individuals facing complex medical, surgical, and obstetric challenges. In addition to clinical responsibilities, this position encompasses educational duties, participation in hospital-wide quality initiatives, and administrative leadership of the outpatient antepartum service.
This role provides a unique opportunity to collaborate with a multidisciplinary team, including general obstetricians, midwives, neonatologists, anesthesiologists, social workers, and care coordinators, all aimed at enhancing perinatal outcomes, advancing maternal health equity, and ensuring patient satisfaction.

Clinical Responsibilities- Conduct both in-person and remote consultations for high-risk and medically complex pregnant patients, addressing maternal and fetal complications across all three facilities.
- Perform and interpret advanced obstetric ultrasounds, including Doppler studies and perinatal diagnostic procedures.
- Collaborate with general obstetricians, midwives, nurse practitioners, and other healthcare providers to optimize outcomes for mothers and infants.
- Provide consultative or direct care for antepartum, intrapartum, and postpartum patients requiring maternal-fetal medicine management.
- Execute and interpret obstetric ultrasounds, including NT and Doppler studies.
- Perform amniocentesis, cervical cerclage, external cephalic version, and antepartum fetal assessments (NST, BPP).
- Maintain inpatient general obstetric privileges at Harlem, Lincoln, and Metropolitan facilities.
- Supervise and instruct residents, medical students, physician assistants, nurse practitioners, certified nurse midwives, sonographers, and other relevant staff.
- Engage in residency program activities at Harlem, Lincoln, and Metropolitan, aligning with the learning objectives set by the program director, including lectures, simulations, and journal clubs.
- Mentor and guide residents and medical students.
- Support necessary research initiatives and quality assurance projects within the department.
- Participate in Grand Rounds and other departmental academic events as requested.
- Oversee and manage the Maternal-Fetal Medicine Division across Harlem, Lincoln, and Metropolitan, including antepartum testing areas and obstetric ultrasound services.
- Collaborate with Maimonides Medical Center's Division of Maternal-Fetal Medicine for clinical services.
- Engage in quality improvement and quality assurance projects and committees as needed.
- Participate in root cause analysis activities as requested.
- Prepare annual reports on data, including outcomes, for Department Chairs, contributing to the medical board's annual update and divisional strategic planning.
- Ensure acquisition and maintenance of AIUM credentialing for ultrasound units.
- Primary work locations include Harlem Hospital, Lincoln Hospital, and Metropolitan Hospital.
- Provide clinical coverage, both in-person and remotely, for MFM services at the designated facilities.
- Offer remote support as needed for other locations within the healthcare system.
- Be available for emergency coverage at other facilities within the system.
- Participate in home on-call consult coverage during weeknights, weekends, and holidays for Harlem, Lincoln, and Metropolitan.
- Work schedules will be coordinated by departmental leadership and the Regional Director based on facility needs and patient acuity.
- This position is a full-time role, comprising approximately 0.4 FTE for administrative tasks and 0.6 FTE for clinical duties.
- MD or DO degree from an accredited institution.
- Board certified in Obstetrics & Gynecology and either board eligible or board certified in Maternal-Fetal Medicine.
- Eligible for medical licensure in New York State.
- A minimum of five years of direct patient care experience in a diverse, urban healthcare setting, with the ability to obtain clinical privileges, including inpatient, outpatient, and surgical/procedural credentials.
- Annual Base Salary: $495,400*, based on a 40-hour work week, including 17 weeks of required night/weekend call and additional coverage.
- Additional night/weekend call beyond the required 17 weeks will be compensated at $25 per hour.
- Annual Stipend: $50,000 for fulfilling Regional Director responsibilities as outlined.
- Estimated total annual compensation package: $621,400**, including base salary, 401(k) contributions, and other factors.
- Potential bonus of up to $40,000 based on quality and productivity metrics from the previous year.
- 401(k) Company Contribution: Immediate vesting in a 3% contribution of base earnings, with an additional 7% after one year of service.
