Job Description
An exciting opportunity is available for a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) or Occupational Therapist (OT) to provide essential coverage in a dynamic school environment near West Hartford, CT. This is a full-time, contract-based assignment supporting students across Pre-K through 12th grade during an FMLA maternity leave, beginning August 27, 2026. While the initial contract is for approximately 12 weeks, there's a strong possibility for extension depending on district needs. Candidates should be fully comfortable with the nature of this temporary leave assignment.
Key Qualifications:
- Active Connecticut COTA license (CT DPH License and NBCOT Exam passed) or active OT license
- Prior school-based experience is highly desirable
- Ability to work with diverse student populations, spanning ages and disabilities
- Reliable transportation for district-wide responsibilities
- Comfortable using technology for documentation and communication
- Commitment to fulfilling the full maternity leave assignment, regardless of extension likelihood
Responsibilities:
- Provide occupational therapy services to a varied caseload of students from Pre-K through 12th grade across multiple school sites in the district
- Collaborate with educational staff, parents, and supervising OTs (COTAs will practice under OT supervision as required)
- Implement IEP-driven treatment plans and support student engagement in daily school activities
- Accurately document and report student progress in compliance with district and federal guidelines
- Assist with evaluations and participate in team meetings as needed
