Position: Chaplain I – Mary Immaculate Hospital – PRNJob Overview

Reporting to the Director of Mission or the Director of Spiritual Care, the Chaplain I provides spiritual support to patients, families, and staff, addressing their religious and spiritual needs. As a vital part of the multidisciplinary team, the chaplain offers emotional and spiritual care during times of illness, crisis, loss, and death, while embodying the organization’s mission and core values.

Key Responsibilities
  • Identify and address the sacramental needs of the Catholic community.
  • Facilitate religious and ritual requirements for various faith groups.
  • Support a diverse population in a non-proselytizing manner, offering emotional and spiritual assistance to patients, visitors, and colleagues.
  • Provide a constructive pastoral presence through active listening and calm communication.
  • Offer spiritual care in end-of-life situations and during crises (e.g., Code Blue, death, trauma).
  • Be available for on-call duties 24/7, including holidays and weekends.

Educational Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree (mandatory), ideally in a related field such as Religious or Theological Studies.
  • Master’s degree in a relevant area (preferred).
Licensing & Certifications
  • Commitment to complete one (1) unit of Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE) within the first year of employment (required).
  • Completion of one (1) unit of Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE) (preferred).
Experience
  • Prior experience as a Chaplain in a healthcare environment (preferred).
  • Completion of lay ministry or being in the ordination process (required).
  • Documentation of endorsement from a faith community representative, confirming good standing in accordance with their faith/spiritual tradition for hospital ministry (required).

Training

Compensation Range

Minimum: $23.20
Maximum: $35.97
