Heavy Duty Transmission & Diffrential Technician

Position Summary:

This role is responsible for inspecting, diagnosing, disassembling, and preparing heavy-duty transmissions and differentials for the next phase of production. The ideal candidate will have strong mechanical ability, attention to detail, and hands-on experience in the automotive or heavy vehicle industry.

Key Responsibilities:

• Inspect incoming transmissions and differentials to determine the cause of failure
• Accurately document findings and write clear failure reports.
• Disassemble failed transmissions and differentials safely and efficiently.
• Clean, organize, and prepare components for the next stage of production.
• Identify damaged, worn, or reusable parts during teardown.
• Maintain a clean and organized work area
• Follow shop safety procedures and company policies at all times
• Operate forklifts and other shop equipment as needed
• Work with team members and supervisors to meet production goals and quality standards.
• Handle parts and assemblies with care to avoid further damage or contamination.

Qualifications:

• Minimum 3 years of experience in the automotive, diesel, or heavy vehicle industry
• Must have own tools.
• Must be able to speak and understand English.
• Forklift experience required.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills
• Ability to identify component failure and wear patterns
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Strong attention to detail and quality.
• Dependable and punctual with a solid work ethic

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience working specifically with heavy-duty transmissions and differentials.
• Experience with teardown, inspection, and failure analysis.
• Knowledge of drivetrain systems, gear sets, bearings, seals, and related components.
• Basic computer or paperwork skills for documenting inspection results.
• Prior experience in a rebuild, remanufacturing, or production environment
• Forklift certification is a plus.
• Ability to read measuring tools such as calipers, dial indicators, and micrometers.
• Experience using shop press equipment and basic air and power tools
• Ability to read service manuals and follow teardown or rebuild procedures.
• Familiarity with tagging, organizing, and tracking parts during disassembly.
• Strong commitment to workplace safety.

Pay and Benefits/Hours:

• $28-$35 per hour based on experience
• Monday-Friday 7:30 am - 5:00 pm
• Overtime paid at time and a half.
• Health, dental, and vision insurance fully paid after a 60-day probationary period.
• 401(k) with company match.
