PCU/Stepdown Registered Nurse (RN) | Winterville, North Carolina

Nursing degree, active registered nurse (RN) license and minimum 1+ years Stepdown RN experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.

Stepdown Registered Nurses are needed for contract roles offering an exceptional opportunity to make a meaningful impact on patient care. As a valued member of the clinical team, you will provide critical nursing care for patients transitioning from intensive care, ensuring smooth recoveries and vigilant monitoring.

Schedule:

• 36 hours per week

Qualifications:

• Current and unrestricted RN license
• Minimum 1 year of recent experience in a Stepdown/Progressive Care Unit
• Strong clinical assessment and critical thinking abilities
• BLS and ACLS certifications required
• Ability to adapt quickly within fast-paced healthcare environments
• Excellent communication and documentation skills

Responsibilities:

• Deliver high-quality nursing care to Stepdown unit patients, closely monitoring vital signs and recognizing early signs of patient deterioration
• Administer prescribed medications, treatments, and IV therapies as ordered
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to implement, evaluate, and revise care plans tailored to individual patient needs
• Provide education and support to patients and their families regarding recovery processes and ongoing care
• Ensure accurate, timely documentation of all care provided using the electronic health record system
• Uphold infection control, safety, and organizational policies at all times
• Participate in shift handoffs and multidisciplinary rounds
