Key Qualifications:

• Current EIPA score of 3.5 or higher, as required by the intermediate unit
• Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) and best practices for educational interpreting
• Experience working 1:1 with children, particularly those with life skills or special education needs
• Strong ability to adapt communication strategies to meet individual student needs
• Professionalism, punctuality, and discretion in a school-based environment

Responsibilities:

• Provide direct sign language interpretation for a 5th-grade student in a Life Skills classroom
• Facilitate effective communication between the student, classroom teachers, and peers
• Support the student’s participation in all classroom activities throughout the school day
• Collaborate with educators and support staff to ensure a cohesive and supportive learning environment
• Maintain confidentiality and adhere to all FERPA and district guidelines
• Work onsite Monday through Friday, 7:20 a.m. to 2:10 p.m., for 35 hours per week as a full-time equivalent
