Make a difference every day by providing essential communication access as an onsite Sign Language Interpreter for a welcoming elementary school Life Skills classroom. This contract opportunity is conveniently located near New Oxford, PA, and involves working one-on-one with a 5th grade student, supporting their unique educational journey. Key Qualifications:

  • Proficiency in Sign Language, with experience in educational settings strongly preferred
  • Valid EIPA (Educational Interpreter Performance Assessment) score of 3.5 or higher
  • Previous work with K-12 students, ideally in a Life Skills or special education classroom
  • Strong interpersonal skills to collaborate with educators, staff, and families
  • Professionalism, dependability, and dedication to student advocacy

Responsibilities:

  • Provide daily, in-person 1:1 interpreting services for a 5th grade student
  • Facilitate clear, accurate communication between student, peers, and school staff
  • Support classroom participation, social interaction, and individualized instruction
  • Adapt interpreting techniques to student needs and classroom activities
  • Maintain professional boundaries and uphold confidentiality standards
  • Collaborate with the educational team to support the student’s academic and social goals

Assignment Details:

  • Full-time equivalent; 35 hours per week
  • 7:20 AM – 2:10 PM, Monday through Friday
  • Academic year contract from August 19, 2026, to June 2, 2027
  • Work within a supportive Life Skills program environment with dedicated staff
