This contract opportunity runs from early September through the end of November, offering a consistent schedule of 37.5 hours per week across two middle school campuses. Key Qualifications:

  • Valid Minnesota Developmental/Adaptive Physical Education (DAPE) teaching license required
  • Experience working with students requiring adaptive physical education services, preferably in a school-based setting
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with teachers, support staff, and families
  • Knowledge of individualized education plans (IEPs), adaptive equipment, and customized activity modifications
  • Compassion, patience, and creative problem-solving skills when supporting learners of varying abilities

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Deliver adaptive physical education instruction to assigned caseload of students per their IEPs
  • Design and implement lesson plans that accommodate students’ developmental and physical needs
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to track progress and update IEPs with targeted goals
  • Encourage active participation and create a positive, engaging classroom environment
  • Maintain accurate documentation and foster open communication with families regarding student achievements and areas for growth
  • Travel between Northdale and Roosevelt middle schools, as needed
