Key Responsibilities
Financial Close & Compliance
- Support monthly and quarterly close activities, ensuring financial transactions are recorded accurately and timely.
- Prepare and post journal entries, maintain supporting documentation, and perform account reconciliations.
- Execute and maintain internal controls in compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) requirements.
- Assist in identifying and implementing control enhancements as business needs evolve.
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and ad hoc financial reports for internal and external stakeholders.
- Research and analyze financial variances, identify trends, and provide actionable recommendations.
- Perform detailed account analysis and reconcile balance sheet accounts.
- Support management reporting and business decision-making through financial insights.
- Partner with cross-functional teams across the organization to resolve accounting issues and improve financial processes.
- Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and long-term planning initiatives.
- Communicate financial results and key findings to leadership as needed.
- Support business operations by providing accurate financial information and analysis.
- Coordinate with internal and external auditors during audit engagements.
- Assist with regulatory reporting and data requests.
- Ensure compliance with applicable accounting standards and reporting requirements.
- Evaluate existing processes and identify opportunities to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
- Participate in automation, system enhancement, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Support special projects related to accounting, regulatory changes, and operational improvements.
- Leverage emerging technologies and analytical tools to improve reporting and decision-making.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- 2+ years of accounting experience.
- Knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting principles, and SOX compliance requirements.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
- Experience preparing account reconciliations and financial analyses.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a deadline-driven environment.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and financial systems.
- Demonstrated commitment to professionalism, integrity, and teamwork.
- CPA designation or CPA-track candidate.
- MBA with a concentration in Accounting or Finance.
- Public accounting experience.
- Experience supporting SEC, FERC, regulatory, or utility reporting requirements.
- Exposure to data analytics, automation tools, or AI-enabled reporting solutions.
- Competitive salary range of $70,000 - $99,000, depending on experience and qualifications.
