Bring your passion and expertise in special education to a dynamic teaching opportunity for the 2026-2027 school year! A welcoming district near Chester, VT is seeking three Special Education Teachers to provide meaningful support and instruction to students with diverse needs, both at the high school and elementary levels. This is a contract position, offering a chance to positively impact students’ lives while working within a collaborative and supportive school community.

Qualifications & Desired Experience:

  • Current, valid Vermont Professional Teaching License with one of the following: Special Educator Endorsement, Special Education Consulting Teacher Endorsement, or Intensive Special Education Teacher Endorsement
  • Familiarity supporting students with executive functioning needs, Autism Spectrum Disorder, and learning disabilities
  • Experience in preparing students for real-world employment and life skills is highly valued
  • Flexible, innovative mindset for contributing to a new pilot high school program
  • Collaborates effectively with a multidisciplinary team, including PT/OT support staff
  • Recent, approved fingerprinting (district will accept from other recent school assignment)

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and deliver individualized instruction and interventions for assigned caseloads
  • Foster an inclusive environment that encourages student growth and independence
  • Partner with colleagues, parents, and related service providers
  • Collect and maintain documentation of student progress and needs
  • Implement strategies that bridge academic, behavioral, and life skills development
  • Support transition and vocational skills, especially for high school students involved in tech center activities

This full-time, 35-hour-per-week position begins August 19, 2026, and continues through June 14, 2027. The district values educators who are resourceful, creative, and enthusiastic about new approaches, making this a fantastic chance to be part of transformative programming.
