Principal MEP Electrical Engineer
Job Description
Job Roles and Responsibilities:
Lead electrical system design for commercial, institutional, multifamily, and mixed-use building projects.
Produce and oversee construction documents using Revit/BIM and AutoCAD.
Perform electrical engineering calculations, equipment selection, and system sizing.
Serve as the Engineer of Record by signing and sealing construction drawings.
Manage project scope, schedules, budgets, and deliverables.
Coordinate with mechanical, plumbing, architectural, and structural teams throughout the design process.
Support construction administration through site visits, RFI responses, submittal reviews, and punch list activities.
Mentor and provide technical guidance to junior and mid-level electrical engineers.
Participate in quality control reviews and maintain engineering standards.
Ensure compliance with applicable building codes and standards, including FBC, NEC, and NFPA.
Serve as a primary technical contact for clients, consultants, and project stakeholders.
Qualifications and Certifications:
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related engineering discipline.
Active Professional Engineer (PE) License in Florida (Required).
6-15+ years of MEP consulting or building systems design experience.
Experience serving as the Engineer of Record with sign-and-seal responsibility.
Proficiency with AutoCAD and Revit.
Experience designing electrical systems for commercial, multifamily, institutional, or mixed-use projects.
Strong understanding of Florida Building Code (FBC), National Electrical Code (NEC), and NFPA standards.
Strong project management, communication, and coordination skills.
Experience mentoring engineering staff and leading technical teams.
Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
