Job OverviewOur organization is in search of a committed Registered Nurse to join the Operating Room team at the Morris Cancer Center.
The Operating Room RN is responsible for delivering comprehensive patient care throughout the perioperative journey. Key duties include ensuring patient safety and comfort during surgical procedures, preparing the operating room, managing surgical instruments, and collaborating with the surgical team. The OR RN will be part of a multidisciplinary team, adhering to the highest standards of patient safety, infection control, and professional ethics.
Typical Responsibilities- Scrubbing in and circulating across various OR specialties, including Robotics, Surgical Oncology, Plastics, Transplant, Neurology, Thoracic, Trauma, Cardiac, Vascular, ENT/Head and Neck, GYN, Urology, and Bariatrics.
- Engaging in complex surgeries utilizing cutting-edge technology in our advanced surgical suites.
- Acting as a vital member of the perioperative team and advocating for patients undergoing anesthesia and/or sedation.
- Collaborating with the multidisciplinary care team to uphold professional nursing standards in the perioperative environment.

Required:
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Nursing Diploma.
- Active RN license and Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- Prior operating room experience or completion of a perioperative 101 course is essential.
Preferred:
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) or completion within five years of hire.
- Certified Perioperative Nurse (CNOR) certification.
- BLS and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification.
- Active Registered Nurse License in New Jersey.
- Evening shift, 40 hours per week, from 3:00 PM to 11:30 PM.
- Availability for weekends, holidays, and on-call duties as assigned.
- The Registered Nurse provides care within the scope defined by the Nurse Practice Act and regulatory standards, ensuring adherence to ethical practice as outlined by the ANA code of ethics.
- Ensures safety in practice, incorporating evidence-based principles while recognizing personal knowledge and experience levels, and takes responsibility for enhancing the knowledge of self and the patient care team.
- Responsible for reporting safety concerns, including hazardous conditions and medical errors.
- Maintains knowledge of the patient population served.
- Supervises and directs task delegation to appropriate team members while collaborating with other care providers.
- Sets and evaluates priorities through appropriate interventions aimed at measurable outcomes for improvement.
- Utilizes the nursing process to integrate all aspects of care, tailoring the care plan to meet specific patient needs.
