Special Education Teacher in Kelso, WA

Qualifications & Experience:

• Valid Washington State Special Education Teacher certification (required)
• Experience teaching students with various disabilities at the middle school level is strongly preferred
• Strong communication skills for working collaboratively with colleagues, families, and support staff
• Skilled in developing and implementing IEPs individualized to each student’s needs
• Adaptable approach: able to modify instructional strategies to meet diverse learning styles
• Proficiency with both technology and in-person instruction

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide direct instruction to middle schoolers in a supportive, inclusive classroom
• Assess students’ skills and progress, developing goals and accommodations as needed
• Implement, monitor, and adjust Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
• Collaborate with paraprofessionals, therapists, and other educators to ensure student success
• Foster a classroom community that encourages growth, belonging, and respect
• Communicate effectively with parents and guardians to support each learner’s development
