Job Description
Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) degree, active Pharmacist license, and minimum 1+ years Pharmacist in Charge experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.
A leadership position is available for a Director of Pharmacy and Pharmacist in Charge, providing crucial oversight for an inpatient acute care facility. This role demands a strong management background and expertise in pharmacy operations within a hospital setting.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead pharmacy department operations, ensuring compliance with The Joint Commission (TJC) standards.
- Oversee sterile compounding procedures primarily managed by technicians.
- Manage medication distribution in specialty areas including ICU, outpatient infusion, surgery, and medical-surgical units.
- Prepare for TJC inspections and support regulatory compliance efforts.
- Utilize CPA through CPSI order entry system; experience preferred but training available.
- Supervise a pharmacy team comprised of 3 technicians, 1 full-time pharmacist, and 4 PRN pharmacists, providing tech support as needed.
- Ensure smooth pharmacy workflow with attention to staffing challenges during weekdays.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Florida Pharmacist and Consultant licensure is mandatory.
- Minimum of 3 years management experience in an inpatient setting.
- Demonstrated knowledge of intravenous (IV) preparation and TJC standards.
- Familiarity with CPSI and Omnicell systems preferred; training offered onsite.
Schedule:
- Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:30/5:00 PM.
- No weekend coverage required.
This contract assignment begins August 31 to provide leadership coverage until a permanent candidate is hired, with an expected transition after September 4.
