Opportunity Overview

Our organization is on the lookout for a full-time physician leader specializing in Complex Family Planning (CFP) to spearhead a comprehensive reproductive health initiative at our medical center. This role involves enhancing access to advanced contraceptive options, high-risk family planning services, and evidence-based abortion care, while also focusing on education, quality enhancement, and system integration. The position includes dedicated administrative time for program development, alongside a clinical practice that emphasizes consultative and outpatient care, with minimal hospital responsibilities.

Clinical Responsibilities
  • Deliver advanced contraceptive services, including long-acting reversible contraception (LARC) such as Nexplanon and both hormonal and copper IUDs.
  • Manage patients with complex medical needs requiring tailored contraceptive planning.
  • Standardize contraceptive practices and protocols within our medical center and engage in strategic alignment with the Women’s Health Service Line.
  • Provide consultations for high-risk family planning for patients facing complex medical, surgical, or obstetric challenges.
  • Collaborate with various subspecialties, including Maternal-Fetal Medicine, oncology, and cardiology.
  • Offer preconception and interpregnancy counseling.
  • Provide comprehensive, patient-centered guidance on pregnancy options.
  • Develop partnerships with college-based clinics to offer STI screening, treatment, and contraceptive services.
Program Development & Procedures
  • Create and standardize policies and procedures for medical and surgical abortion services across the system.
  • Collaborate with pharmacy leadership to ensure safe and compliant medication workflows.
  • Establish evidence-based clinical guidelines to ensure consistency across various sites.
  • Provide training and consultative support for dilation and evacuation (D&E) procedures.
  • Enhance internal competencies and reduce dependence on external resources where feasible.
Partnerships & System Integration
  • Formulate formal partnerships with community organizations, including Planned Parenthood.
  • Create efficient referral pathways for complex cases and services not available internally.
  • Enhance care coordination and continuity across different systems.
Hospital-Based Responsibilities
  • Participate in OB hospitalist shifts as part of call responsibilities.
  • Engage in limited backup gynecology call as needed by the system.
Administrative & Leadership Duties
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive CFP program.
  • Standardize clinical protocols and workflows across various sites.
  • Collaborate with leadership in the Women’s Health Service Line.
  • Lead initiatives for quality improvement and define program metrics.
  • Support provider education and workforce development.
Qualifications
  • MD/DO with board certification or eligibility in Obstetrics & Gynecology.
  • Proven experience in complex contraception and high-risk family planning consultative care.
  • Training and/or experience in both medical and surgical abortion care, with a commitment to evidence-based, patient-centered reproductive healthcare.
  • Experience in leading program development, quality improvement, and clinical operations across multiple sites is preferred.
  • Strong skills in collaboration, communication, and partnership with stakeholders.
  • Eligibility for medical licensure in California.
