A retail/outpatient pharmacy technician opportunity is available in Denver, CO, supporting a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC). This contract or contract-to-hire position requires a dedicated professional to deliver exceptional pharmaceutical services Monday through Friday from 8:00 am to 6:00 pm, with Saturday hours from 8:00 am to 1:30 pm.

Key responsibilities include accurately entering prescription and patient demographic data into the pharmacy system, preparing and packaging prescriptions under pharmacist supervision, and processing insurance claims—including Medicaid, Medicare, commercial insurance, and 340B-eligible prescriptions. You will assist patients with prescription pick-up, refills, and transfers, addressing medication inquiries while escalating clinical questions to the pharmacist. Handling payments and following stringent cash-handling protocols is essential, alongside managing medication orders, stock rotation, and inventory maintenance.

Additional duties involve removing expired medications, ensuring compliance with all applicable regulations, assisting with clinic medication and vaccine orders, and maintaining confidentiality in line with HIPAA standards. Collaboration is a core element of this role, working closely with healthcare providers, nurses, medical assistants, and pharmacists to coordinate comprehensive patient care. Delivering compassionate service to a diverse patient base, including uninsured and low-income individuals, is vital.

Desired qualifications include:

  • 2-3 years of pharmacy technician experience preferred
  • Active and clear Colorado pharmacy technician license
  • Certification through PTCB or NHA
  • Experience with EPIC Willow system preferred, with 1-2 days of training available if needed
