The Oncology Unit consists of twenty-eight beds, focusing primarily on the care of adult cancer patients who require inpatient treatments. This unit operates 24/7, accommodating both inpatient hospice needs and Oncology Medical-Surgical Telemetry requirements.

Position Overview

The RN Clinical Nurse plays a vital role as part of an interdisciplinary team, which includes both licensed and unlicensed caregivers. This team is dedicated to providing personalized, high-quality, and safe patient care to patients, families, and significant others. The clinical environment is overseen by Nurse Managers and other leaders, supported by our Shared Governance Model. All RN competencies are aligned with these frameworks and reflect our core values.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct the Nursing Process, which includes assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of clinical care based on evidence-based practices.
• Deliver relationship-based, patient-centered care that respects population-specific characteristics (e.g., age, gender, disease) while adapting service delivery to acknowledge cultural diversity.
• Perform bedside shift reports to keep patients and their significant others informed, ensuring that patient goals are central to the care plan.
• Coordinate the delivery and documentation of safe, quality patient care, promoting a professional care delivery model.
• Foster teamwork and collaboration, practicing in a fiscally responsible manner that encourages the recruitment and retention of healthcare team members.
• Engage in performance improvement initiatives, research, and the utilization of findings to enhance patient care quality.
• Act as a preceptor or mentor for other nurses and staff, ensuring a qualified workforce and a healthy work environment.
• Promote evidence-based practice and nursing research, participating in value analysis for evaluating patient care products.
• Adhere to all organizational policies, procedures, and clinical competencies, including legal and regulatory standards.
• Contribute to the development of protocols and procedures in collaboration with care managers and other healthcare team members.
• Perform additional duties as assigned, complying with all organizational standards and codes of conduct.

Qualifications

• Associate's Degree in Nursing or Diploma in Nursing required; Bachelor's Degree in Nursing preferred.
• Current RN license (Single State or Multi-State Compact).
• Less than one year of experience is acceptable; completion of an accredited nursing program with required clinical hours is necessary.
