Director of Pharmacy - South Bay, FL

Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) degree, active Pharmacist license, and minimum 1+ years Director of Pharmacy experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.

This leadership role involves managing pharmacy operations and serving as the Pharmacist in Charge (PIC) at a healthcare facility focused on acute care and specialty services. Location: South Bay, FL (with proximity to Fort Myers and Palm Beach airports)
Position Type: Contract
Schedule: Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM – 4:30/5:00 PM (No weekend coverage)

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide overall pharmacy leadership and serve as the PIC, overseeing daily operations and pharmacy staff.
• Prepare the pharmacy for upcoming The Joint Commission (TJC) inspections and maintain regulatory compliance.
• Manage sterile compounding activities primarily supported by pharmacy technicians.
• Work collaboratively within Collaborative Practice Agreements (CPA) using CPS order entry system—experience with CPS and Omnicell automation is preferred but training will be provided.
• Ensure smooth pharmacy workflow despite limited weekday staffing levels.
• Oversee pharmacy services supporting acute care ICU, outpatient infusion, surgery, and medical-surgical units.

Qualifications and Desired Experience:

• Licensed Florida Pharmacist and Consultant Pharmacist licenses required.
• Minimum of 3 years of management experience in an inpatient pharmacy setting.
• Strong familiarity with sterile compounding standards and TJC regulations.
• Experience with CPS system and Omnicell automation is a plus, with onsite training available.
• Ability to lead and develop pharmacy staff including pharmacists and technicians.

Additional Details:

• Staff team consists of 3 pharmacy technicians, 1 full-time pharmacist, and 4 PRN pharmacists.
• Business attire dress code.
• Training begins April 1, with PIC duties commencing April 6 and continuing until internal hire is secured.
