Adaptive Physical Education Teacher (APE) in Harvey, LA

This full-time contract opportunity runs through the end of the academic year, with the option for part-time flexibility if you can commit to a three-day schedule with seven-hour workdays. As an itinerant educator, you’ll work across 2-3 school sites, serving diverse student populations and contributing meaningfully to their development.

What You’ll Bring:

• Adaptive Physical Education (APE) Certification preferred; minimum of PE Teacher certification required
• Demonstrated experience or genuine interest in working with students with adaptive physical education needs
• Reliable transportation and the ability to travel between schools as required
• Excellent organizational and time-management skills for balancing responsibilities across multiple sites
• Adaptability and problem-solving skills to adjust to district needs and caseload variations
• Compliance with district requirements, including drug screening and fingerprinting prior to start

Responsibilities Include:

• Delivering high-quality physical education instruction to students with diverse needs, ages, and abilities
• Developing and implementing individualized and group lesson plans to support student progress
• Collaborating with school staff, specialists, and families to ensure effective program delivery
• Maintaining accurate records, documenting student progress, and participating in IEP meetings as needed
• Traveling between assigned school sites on the East or West Bank to provide comprehensive support
• Participating in ongoing professional development and team meetings
