Job Description
Empower students with visual impairments to reach their fullest potential in an engaging educational environment. This contract position provides an opportunity for skilled Teachers of the Visually Impaired (TVI) to make a meaningful difference working full-time during the school year.
Qualifications:
- Current and active teaching license as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired
- Specialized experience supporting students with visual impairments in school settings
- Ability to develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs)
- Strong communication and collaboration skills with teachers, parents, and support staff
- Flexibility and adaptability in a dynamic classroom environment
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver direct instruction and consultative services to students who are blind or visually impaired
- Adapt curriculum and materials to meet individual student needs
- Conduct functional vision assessments and make recommendations for classroom accommodations
- Liaise with classroom teachers and related service professionals to support student success
- Provide orientation and mobility trainings as needed
- Maintain accurate records, documentation, and progress reports
- Participate in IEP meetings and contribute as a valued team member
- Stay current on best practices in visual impairment education and assistive technology advancements
