Position: Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) – Sports Medicine & Family PracticeJob Overview:
The Certified Medical Assistant plays a vital role in our team, collaborating closely with primary care physicians to provide exceptional patient care to our community. This role ensures that services are delivered within the Medical Assisting scope and adhere to state regulations. Responsibilities include reviewing and updating health records, measuring vital signs, and preparing treatment rooms for patient examinations.
- Deliver outstanding customer service by warmly greeting patients and community members.
- Prepare and review patient charts for upcoming appointments, ensuring all diagnostic test results, hospital reports, and medical records are accurate and current.
- Measure vital signs, including pulse rate, respiration, blood pressure, weight, and height.
- Perform clerical tasks related to the department, such as checking inventory, stocking supplies, tracking referrals, and answering phones as needed.
- Demonstrate the ability to troubleshoot and resolve issues efficiently.
- Carry out additional duties as assigned.
- Education: High School Diploma or GED.

Licensure/Certification: Active Medical Assisting certification from one of the following is required:
- Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) from the American Association of Medical Assisting
- Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) from American Medical Technologists
- Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) from the National Healthcareer Association (NHA)
- Nationally Registered Certified Medical Assistant (NRCMA) from the National Association for Health Professionals
- National Certified Medical Assistant (NCMA) from the National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT)
- If unable to obtain MA certification, an Assessment-Based Recognition in Order Entry (ABR-OE) is acceptable (not valid in South Carolina).
- BLS Basic Life Support certification from the American Heart Association is required at hire for specific locations and preferred at hire, mandatory before independent patient care at others.
- One year of experience as a medical assistant in healthcare is preferred but not mandatory.
- Two years of clerical experience in a physician’s office is preferred but not mandatory.
- Strong problem-solving abilities and basic computer skills, along with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to engage professionally with both staff and patients.
Salary Range:
Minimum: $19.03
Maximum: $28.54
