Job Description
Step into a rewarding role guiding middle school students as a Special Education Teacher in a supportive, collaborative environment beginning August 17, 2026, through June 4, 2027. This contract opportunity offers a chance to make a meaningful impact while working closely with a dedicated team of educators.
Your week will consist of 32.75 hours, Monday through Friday, from 8:00am to 3:15pm, featuring a 42-minute unpaid lunch break each day. You’ll work with a small caseload of 14 sixth and seventh graders, providing both instructional math and ELA support in sixth grade as well as team-teaching science and social studies for seventh grade. Your expertise will help shape individualized learning plans and foster academic growth for students at a pivotal stage in their education.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Professional certification as a Special Education Teacher
- Previous experience working with middle school students or in similar educational settings
- Strong grasp of instructional strategies for math and ELA, as well as collaborative teaching in science and social studies
- Ability to tailor interventions and supports for diverse learners
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and implement engaging lessons for a 6th-grade instructional classroom
- Team-teach science and social studies in 7th grade, collaborating closely with general education staff
- Track academic progress and update Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
- Foster a positive learning environment for students with a variety of educational needs
- Communicate regularly with parents, specialists, and administrators
