Graduate Medical Education Resident Physician

Position: Physician (Neurology) - Fort Carson, Colorado

Key Responsibilities:

• Function as a physician specializing in Traumatic Brain Injury within the Neurology field, responsible for examining, diagnosing, and treating a wide range of outpatients in the clinic.
• Offer evaluations or recommendations for neurology-related issues in the referral area via phone consultations, telemedicine, and assessment of air evacuation patients as necessary.
• Prepare, write, and dictate medical summaries for medical retention boards.
• Draft or dictate physical profiles, medical evaluation boards, fitness for duty assessments, and other relevant documentation as required.
• Supervise, instruct, and collaborate with other healthcare professionals, including nurse practitioners, physician assistants, medical students, interns, residents, and fellows.

Other duties may be assigned as necessary.

Qualifications:

To qualify, candidates must meet the educational and experiential criteria outlined below. Experience includes both paid and unpaid roles, such as volunteer work through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, community, student, social). All qualifying experience will be credited, including volunteer work. Your resume should clearly detail your relevant experience; if qualifying through education, transcripts will be required as part of your application.

Basic Requirements for Physician (Neurology):

• Degree: Must hold a Doctor of Medicine, Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine, or an equivalent degree from an accredited institution in the U.S. or Canada. This degree must have been accredited by recognized bodies such as the Council on Medical Education of the American Medical Association or the Liaison Committee on Medical Education.
• For degrees obtained from foreign medical schools, education and medical knowledge must be equivalent to that of accredited U.S. institutions. Proof of equivalency can be demonstrated through permanent certification by the Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates or successful completion of the U.S. Medical Licensing Examination. (Note: Attach a copy of your transcripts or proof of foreign equivalency with your application.)
• Licensure: Candidates must possess a current, unrestricted license as a Physician from a U.S. state, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, or a U.S. territory.
• Graduate Training: After obtaining a Doctor of Medicine or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree, candidates must have at least one year of supervised clinical experience, such as a one-year internship or the first year of a residency program in an accredited institution.

In addition to the basic requirements, candidates must also fulfill the following:

• Residency Training: Applicants must have successfully completed an accredited residency in Neurology, along with equivalent experience and training totaling at least four years. Experience cannot substitute for the required residency training.
