Job Overview:The OB/GYN Physician will conduct comprehensive assessments of patients' health, establish accurate diagnoses, and implement effective care plans to achieve optimal clinical outcomes. As part of a collaborative healthcare team, the physician will play a vital role in patient care.
Our facility is recognized as a qualified site for loan repayment through the National Health Service Corps.
The Women's Health Center operates within McLaren Central Michigan Hospital, providing our physicians with access to cutting-edge robotic-assisted surgical technology in the operating room.
Key Responsibilities:- Deliver preventive care and treatment for a variety of health issues, including pregnancy, childbirth, menstrual disorders, menopause, sexually transmitted infections, and other reproductive health concerns.
- Provide comprehensive prenatal, labor and delivery, and postpartum care for expectant mothers.
- Perform medical procedures within the defined scope of practice, including pap smears, pelvic exams, breast exams, colposcopies, IUD insertions, and biopsies.
- Evaluate a wide range of treatment and preventive options, recommending age-appropriate and culturally sensitive courses of action.
- Conduct surgeries such as cesarean sections, hysterectomies, and laparoscopies.
- Offer Telehealth services to patients when suitable.
- Collaborate with other healthcare professionals, including nurses, emergency staff, anesthesiologists, primary care providers, and pediatricians, to ensure comprehensive patient care.
- Maintain accurate and current medical records, documenting patient history, diagnoses, treatment plans, and progress notes.
- Educate and counsel patients on reproductive health, contraception, sexually transmitted infections, mental health, and related topics.
- Communicate effectively with patients and their families to ensure understanding of diagnoses, treatment plans, and follow-up care needs.
- Refer patients to specialists as needed, encouraging them to seek appropriate care and treatment.
- Respond promptly and professionally to incoming patient referrals from collaborating providers.
- Document and complete patient charts in a timely manner.
- Act appropriately in urgent or emergency situations.
- Address and follow up on patient complaints and concerns regarding medical care.
- Contribute to efficient practice management policies, enhancing patient access to care.
- Meet patient care hours as specified in the employment agreement.
- Fulfill call assignment commitments with clear communication and follow-up.
- Support accurate billing for professional services through timely documentation and knowledge of the organization’s billing policies.
- Adhere to all organizational policies, procedures, and practice guidelines.
- Assist with third-party payer performance and value-based purchasing programs in which the organization participates.
- Respond to correspondence requests in a timely manner.
- Manage patient care by effectively utilizing available resources, including prescribing and ordering ancillary services.
- Utilize the referral network as necessary to address patient conditions and concerns.
- Promote appropriate lengths of stay for hospitalized patients.
- Leverage the organization’s information technology systems to enhance efficiency.
- Serve as a resource for colleagues and support staff, fostering teamwork and improving care quality.
- Participate in the training and evaluation of clinic support staff as needed.
- Regularly attend and engage in provider meetings.
- Participate in community education and professional activities to promote the organization’s services.
- Recognize and address diverse patient needs and preferences.

- Medical degree (M.D. or D.O.) from an accredited institution.
- Current medical license in the State of Michigan.
- Active controlled substance license.
- Board certified or board eligible in the specialty.
- Unrestricted and current Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) license.
- Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification is required.
- Must acquire and maintain hospital privileges where deliveries and call services are performed.
