Our 36-bed Medical-Surgical unit provides a dynamic and engaging atmosphere where we care for a diverse array of adult patients. This includes individuals with orthopedic requirements, those undergoing general and bariatric surgeries, as well as patients needing cardiac/telemetry monitoring and managing complex medical issues. The typical RN-to-patient ratio is between 1:5–6, while PCTs generally have a ratio of 1:6–9, fostering a collaborative and impactful approach to patient care.

Team members will acquire essential clinical skills through numerous opportunities to perform IV insertions, assist with bedside procedures, deliver wound care, manage nasogastric tubes and chest tubes, administer blood transfusions, and provide care for post-operative patients, central lines, and colostomies. Additionally, nurses and PCTs may float to different departments within the hospital, making this an excellent chance for comprehensive clinical development and teamwork.

Responsibilities

The staff nurse is responsible for delivering nursing care to patients across all stages of life. This includes utilizing nursing processes to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care. The nurse operates within the organization's policies and procedures, demonstrating professional accountability and growth. Key responsibilities include:

• Maintaining high standards of nursing practice.
• Coordinating patient care activities among all assigned staff to ensure quality nursing care.

Qualifications

Education

• Graduation from an accredited nursing program is required.
• A Bachelor’s Degree is preferred.

Work Experience

• No prior experience is necessary; new nursing graduates are encouraged to apply.
• Experience in a hospital setting is preferred.
• For PRN positions, at least one year of hospital experience is required.

Licenses and Certifications

• Current RN license in the State of Georgia or NLC/eNLC Multistate License is required.
• Basic Life Support (BCLS) certification is required.

Additional Licenses and Certifications

• Advanced certification in a specialty area may be required (see addendum).

Addendum

• Cardiac Tele: ACLS Certification is required within 180 days for Nurse Residents or nurses new to the specialty.
• Critical Care: ACLS Certification is required within 180 days for Nurse Residents or nurses new to the specialty.
• Dialysis: Certified Dialysis Certificate (CDN) is preferred.
• Emergency Department: ACLS and PALS Certification are required within 180 days for Nurse Residents or nurses new to the specialty; experienced nurses have 6 months to obtain PALS certification.
• Infusion/Oncology: Chemotherapy/Biotherapy Certification is required prior to independent chemotherapy administration upon hire.
• Pediatrics: PALS Certification is required at specific locations; Nurse Residents or nurses new to the specialty must complete applicable certifications within 180 days.
• Surgical Services: ACLS and PALS certifications are required for specific roles; BLS is required within 180 days for OR positions.
• Women’s Services: Various certifications including ACLS and NRP are required within specified timeframes for different roles.
