Key Responsibilities

The staff nurse is responsible for delivering nursing care to patients across all stages of life, from infancy to the end of life. This role involves utilizing nursing processes to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care. The nurse operates within the organization's policies and procedures while demonstrating professional development and accountability. Key duties include:

  • Maintaining high standards of nursing practice.
  • Coordinating patient care activities among all assigned staff to ensure quality nursing services.
QualificationsEducation
  • Required: Graduation from an accredited nursing program.
  • Preferred: Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing.
Work Experience
  • Required: No prior experience necessary; new graduates from nursing programs are welcome to apply.
  • Preferred: Previous nursing experience in a hospital environment.
  • Required for PRN positions: At least one year of experience in a hospital setting.
Licenses and Certifications
  • Required: Current RN license in the State of Georgia or NLC/eNLC Multistate License.
  • Required: Basic Life Support (BCLS) certification.
Additional Licenses and Certifications

Depending on the specialty area, additional certifications may be required:

  • Cardiac Tele: ACLS Certification (to be completed within 180 days for new nurses).
  • Critical Care: ACLS Certification (to be completed within 180 days for new nurses).
  • Dialysis: Certified Dialysis Nurse (CDN) preferred.
  • Emergency Department: ACLS and PALS Certification (to be completed within 180 days for new nurses).
  • Infusion/Oncology: Chemotherapy/Biotherapy Certification required prior to independent administration.
  • Pediatrics: PALS Certification required (to be completed within 180 days for new nurses).
  • Surgical Services: ACLS and PALS Certification if applicable (to be completed within 180 days for new nurses).
  • Women’s Services: Various certifications including NRP required by the end of the orientation period.
