Job Description
Step into a rewarding contract opportunity supporting K-12 students as a Teacher of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing in the Albany, NY area. This flexible position begins as soon as possible and runs through the end of the current school year. With a part-time schedule of 2-3 days per week, you’ll have the chance to make a real difference, delivering high-quality instruction and advocacy to students who are deaf or hard of hearing. This role is open to both hybrid and virtual arrangements, providing added flexibility for the right candidate.
Qualifications & Requirements:
- New York State certification as a Teacher of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing (DHH)
- Proven experience working with K-12 students who are deaf or hard of hearing
- Ability to design and implement differentiated lessons and communication plans
- Comfortable providing direct instruction as well as consultative support to classrooms and staff
- Skilled in American Sign Language (ASL), auditory/oral approaches, and/or other communication methods
- Strong collaboration and organizational skills
- Openness to working in-person, fully remote, or a hybrid of both
Responsibilities:
- Deliver individualized and small-group instruction aligned with IEP goals
- Support student access to general education curriculum through accommodations and modifications
- Collaborate closely with teachers, aides, and related service providers
- Participate in IEP meetings, progress monitoring, and student assessments
- Advocate for accessible learning environments
- Maintain thorough documentation and communication with families and school staff
