Pharmacist in Phoenix, AZ

An opportunity is available for a Staff Clinical/Infusion Pharmacist to support a specialized infusion pharmacy setting. This 8-12 week contract position requires a dedicated professional to manage the preparation, dispensing, and clinical monitoring of complex intravenous (IV) and subcutaneous medications.

Schedule:

• Monday to Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
• On-call rotation may be required

Location: Phoenix, AZ

Responsibilities:

• Prepare specialty pharmaceuticals and IV solutions in a sterile, ventilated environment, ensuring compliance with state and federal regulations.
• Assess laboratory values and calculate pharmacokinetic dosing, including therapies like vancomycin and Total Parenteral Nutrition (TPN).
• Provide thorough patient counseling and education concerning specialty medications, infusion pump use, sterile techniques, and catheter maintenance at home.
• Collaborate with prescribing physicians, nurses, and multidisciplinary teams to coordinate care and avoid hospital readmissions.
• Maintain compliance with regulatory standards such as State Board of Pharmacy, HIPAA, FDA, DEA, Medicare, ACHC, URAC, and OSHA.
• Manage inventory, including refrigerated products, and oversee the packing and timely delivery of medications to patient homes.

Qualifications:

• 1-3 years of experience in infusion specialty pharmacy or hospital pharmacy with significant involvement in IV room operations.
• AZ pharmacist license current and in good standing is required.
• Experience with IVIg therapies is a plus.
• Knowledge of specialty therapy payer requirements, reimbursement processes, and contract obligations is preferred.
• Familiarity with the CareTend system is advantageous.
