Physician - Radiology - Chief Radiologist

Position Overview

Our organization is in search of a Section Chief of Imaging Informatics for the Radiology Service at the Phoenix VA Health Care System (PVAHCS) Medical Center, located in Phoenix, Arizona. This department delivers a range of Radiology subspecialty services, including inpatient, outpatient, and emergency care for Veterans throughout central Arizona.

Key Responsibilities

The Chief of Imaging Informatics will be responsible for:

• Managing the enterprise-wide PACS (Picture Archiving and Communication System) operations.
• Supervising the team dedicated to PACS, ensuring efficient digital image sharing between PVAHCS and Community Care partners.
• Overseeing the workflow and scheduling processes across various divisions within the Radiology Service.
• Ensuring compliance with quality monitoring standards and regulatory requirements.

Department Overview

The Radiology Service is one of the largest clinical departments at PVAHCS, employing over 130 staff members across nine specialty divisions:

• Staff Radiology
• Vascular and Interventional Radiology Services
• CT Services
• Nuclear Medicine Services
• Ultrasound Services
• Breast Imaging Services
• Diagnostic Radiology
• MRI Services
• Clerical Services

Currently, the Phoenix Radiology department has 24 radiologists who provide both subspecialty and general radiology coverage. Preference will be given to candidates with expertise in Neuroradiology or Musculoskeletal (MSK) radiology.

Compensation and Benefits

The compensation package includes:

• Salary: Competitive annual salary of up to $400,000, along with an annual performance bonus and regular salary increases.
• Sign-on Bonus: Up to 25% of the annual salary.
• Paid Time Off: 50-55 days of paid time off annually, which includes 26 days of annual leave, 13 days of sick leave, 11 paid federal holidays, and potentially 5 days for Continuing Medical Education (CME).
• Retirement Benefits: A traditional federal pension with a 5-year vesting period, plus a federal 401k plan with contributions of up to 5% from the organization.

Eligibility and Citizenship

Applicants must possess a Doctor of Medicine or an equivalent degree in medicine or osteopathic medicine. Citizenship is required; non-citizens may only be considered if qualified citizens cannot be recruited, in accordance with VA policy.
