Position Overview

We are seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) - Acute Care Ortho Surgical for a full-time night shift role. The RN Clinical Nurse plays a vital role as part of an interdisciplinary team, consisting of both licensed and unlicensed caregivers, ensuring that patients, families, and significant others receive personalized, high-quality, and safe care. This position operates within a clinical setting overseen by Nurse Managers and supported by our Shared Governance Model. Our practice framework is guided by the Professional Practice Model and evidence-based research. RN competencies are aligned with these models and reflect our organizational values.

All RN Clinical Nurses are expected to be licensed, knowledgeable, and adhere to the nursing practices defined by the Georgia Professional Nurse Practice Act, implementing the Scope of Practice and Code of Ethics established by the American Nurses Association. As part of the patient services team, you will advocate for the patient’s voice while adhering to system policies and procedures, all while supporting our service excellence goals.

Key Responsibilities

• Exemplary Practice and Outcomes:
  • Conduct the Nursing Process (assessment, diagnosis, outcome identification, planning, implementation, and evaluation) in clinical care, utilizing evidence-based practices and critical thinking to ensure individualized care.
  • Deliver relationship-based, patient-centered care that respects population-specific characteristics (e.g., age, gender, disease) and cultural diversity.
  • Engage with patients and significant others appropriately, utilizing methods such as bedside shift reports and interdisciplinary rounds to keep them informed and focused on their care goals.
  • Adhere to current clinical practice standards.
• Teamwork and Collaboration:
  • Coordinate and document safe, quality patient care, promoting a professional care delivery model through inclusive communication methods.
  • Exhibit teamwork by practicing in a fiscally responsible manner that encourages the recruitment and retention of healthcare team members.
  • Support performance improvement initiatives, engaging all stakeholders in research and quality patient care activities.
• Professional Development and Initiative:
  • Complete all required professional competency assessments and ongoing education.
  • Act as a preceptor or mentor for other nurses and staff, ensuring a qualified workforce and fostering a healthy work environment.
• Evidence-Based Practice and Research:
  • Encourage evidence-based practices and nursing research, participating in value analysis for patient care product evaluation.
  • Adhere to all organizational policies and clinical competencies, ensuring compliance with legal, regulatory, and accreditation standards.
  • Engage in data collection and pose relevant clinical questions to advance evidence-based practice.
• Resources and Support:
  • Plan proactively for patient care across the continuum while providing direct care.
  • Contribute to the development of protocols and procedures in collaboration with care managers and healthcare team members.
  • Support the efficient use of human and material resources.

Other duties may be assigned as necessary. Compliance with all organizational policies, work standards, and code of conduct is expected.

Qualifications

• Education:
  • Associate's Degree in Nursing or Diploma in Nursing required; Bachelor's Degree in Nursing preferred.
• Licenses and Certifications:
  • RN - Registered Nurse (Single State) or RN-COMPACT - Multi-state Compact required.
  • BLS - Basic Life Support certification required upon hire.
• Experience:
  • A minimum of 2 years of direct patient care nursing experience is required.
• Skills:
  • Proficient in reading, writing, and speaking English; basic computer skills are essential.
  • Strong interpersonal and collaborative skills, along with excellent customer service abilities.
  • Able to thrive in a fast-paced environment and respond to emergencies with composure and respect.
  • Exceptional time management and critical thinking skills, utilizing evidence and analytical reasoning in nursing practice.
