Job Description
Step into a dynamic role supporting students across a diverse school district near Kansas City, MO. This contract position offers flexible, per diem assignments within special education classrooms at any of 33 school sites (mainly elementary), covering daily contractor call outs. You’ll have the opportunity to assist students with behavior needs, implement Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs), and support toileting needs as required. Depending on the day, you may serve as a one-on-one aide or as a classroom support, directly impacting student success and well-being.
Desired Qualifications:
- Active substitute certification (SUB cert) on DESE required—can be pending if active before your start date
- Fingerprinting necessary (per district-specific guidelines)
- Demonstrated experience in school settings, particularly supporting students with behavioral challenges
- Familiarity with special education environments and interventions
- Comfortable performing personal care duties when needed
- Strong adaptability and readiness to work in various school environments
- Previous experience in the district must be confirmed prior to presenting
Responsibilities:
- Provide direct support to students with special needs, including those who have behavioral support plans
- Assist teachers in creating a positive, safe, and inclusive classroom environment
- Respond promptly to daily assignments using the app platform, choosing shifts that match your availability (1–5 days/week)
- Maintain a professional and compassionate approach at all times
- Carry out one-on-one or group support as assigned
