About the Area

Kern County provides physicians and their families with some of the most affordable housing options in the region, alongside access to California's premier natural attractions. It is the nearest SCPMG area to renowned outdoor destinations such as Yosemite, King's Canyon, Sequoia, and Death Valley National Parks. Bakersfield is a hidden treasure, featuring old-growth tree groves, spacious streets, and beautiful homes, all without the usual Southern California traffic congestion.

Working Here

Kern County stands out within SCPMG due to its smaller-town atmosphere, fostering a genuine sense of community and belonging. It is the only medical center in the organization that can convene as a unified group simultaneously. The smaller size of our area encourages open communication at all levels, giving physicians a voice and facilitating continuous improvements, both minor and significant. Physicians benefit from the stability and support of the Permanente system while enjoying the camaraderie of a smaller medical group. New team members are swiftly integrated into the system, promoting rapid learning and support. This welcoming culture extends beyond the medical center, as physicians' families actively engage in social and cultural activities together.

Equal Employment Opportunity

External candidates must successfully complete a background check and drug screening. Qualified applicants with arrest and/or conviction records will be considered for employment in accordance with federal, state, and local laws, including the San Francisco Fair Chance Ordinance. All qualified applicants will be given equal consideration for employment regardless of race, color, religion, sex, national origin, sexual orientation, gender identity, protected veteran status, or disability.
