Teacher of Visually Impaired in Port Saint Lucie, FL

Empower students to reach their potential as a dedicated Teacher for the Visually Impaired! This contract position focuses on providing vital support to children with visual impairments across five schools, working directly with a caseload of 12 students for a total of 690 service minutes per week, along with two consultation cases. In this full-time role, you’ll play an essential part in ensuring student access to curriculum and fostering independence through adaptive techniques—including Braille instruction.

Key Qualifications:

• Active FL DOE Teacher for Visually Impaired certification
• Experience instructing visually impaired students, including Braille literacy
• Ability to provide consultative and direct services across multiple campuses
• Fingerprinting clearance through district (may be expedited if previously fingerprinted via AHCA Clearinghouse)
• Strong communication skills and adaptability for working in diverse school environments

Primary Responsibilities:

• Deliver tailored instruction and support to students with visual impairments, ages and grades as assigned
• Develop and implement individualized education strategies to meet IEP goals
• Provide Braille instruction and adapt classroom materials as needed
• Collaborate with educators, families, and specialists to ensure comprehensive student support
• Manage multiple school assignments and organize caseload efficiently
