Job Description
Empower students to reach their potential as a dedicated Teacher for the Visually Impaired! This contract position focuses on providing vital support to children with visual impairments across five schools, working directly with a caseload of 12 students for a total of 690 service minutes per week, along with two consultation cases. In this full-time role, you’ll play an essential part in ensuring student access to curriculum and fostering independence through adaptive techniques—including Braille instruction.
Key Qualifications:
- Active FL DOE Teacher for Visually Impaired certification
- Experience instructing visually impaired students, including Braille literacy
- Ability to provide consultative and direct services across multiple campuses
- Fingerprinting clearance through district (may be expedited if previously fingerprinted via AHCA Clearinghouse)
- Strong communication skills and adaptability for working in diverse school environments
Primary Responsibilities:
- Deliver tailored instruction and support to students with visual impairments, ages and grades as assigned
- Develop and implement individualized education strategies to meet IEP goals
- Provide Braille instruction and adapt classroom materials as needed
- Collaborate with educators, families, and specialists to ensure comprehensive student support
- Manage multiple school assignments and organize caseload efficiently
