Job Description
If you are passionate about making a difference in student behavior and supporting positive school environments, consider this full-time onsite contract opportunity as a Behavior Intervention Specialist for the 2025-2026 school year. With a typical schedule of 8:30 am–4:10 pm (37.5 hours/week), you will play a key role in fostering positive behavioral changes across multiple school sites.
You will collaborate closely with a fellow BIS and a Special Education Administrator, working with school teams to consult, design, and implement effective positive behavior interventions and supports. Your expertise will help ensure student success and safety while maintaining a constructive atmosphere for all.
Qualifications:
- BCBA or licensed Special Education Teacher (Tier 3 or 4 required for SpEd applicants)
- Demonstrated experience in behavioral intervention or special education settings within schools
- Strong skills in functional behavior assessment and positive behavioral support
- Ability to collaborate effectively across teams and communicate recommendations
- Resilient, adaptable mindset and calm demeanor during high-pressure or crisis situations
- RBTs are not eligible for this position
Responsibilities:
- Consult, plan, and implement positive behavior interventions and supports
- Conduct functional behavior assessments to guide individualized student programming
- Reinforce positive behaviors, apply de-escalation strategies, and redirect inappropriate behavior
- May be required to use restrictive procedures when necessary to ensure safety
- Support development and execution of Individualized Education Plans in compliance with legal and district guidelines
- Train school staff on behavioral recommendations and best practices
- Collect and analyze behavioral data to inform decisions and programming
- Maintain compliance with district and School Board policies
