Position Overview

We are looking for a Clinical Psychologist with expertise in child and adolescent mental health to conduct psychological evaluations, provide therapy, and offer consultative support at the William Beaumont Army Medical Center (WBAMC) in Fort Bliss, Texas. This role is essential within the Department of Behavioral Health, focusing on the assessment, diagnosis, and treatment of psychological issues affecting children and teenagers, while also providing vital support to families and healthcare teams.

This position is a personal services contract, working under the guidance of military healthcare leadership. The psychologist will engage in both clinical care and collaboration with interdisciplinary teams to ensure comprehensive mental health support.

Key Responsibilities
  • Clinical Privileges: Carry out all tasks within the scope of privileges granted by the MTF Director.
  • Contractual Obligations: Fulfill responsibilities as outlined in the contract and associated standards.
Specific Duties
  • Conduct psychological assessments and evaluations for children, adolescents, and their families.
  • Diagnose mental health conditions in accordance with DSM-V or current psychiatric standards.
  • Provide therapy utilizing evidence-based practices such as CBT, client-centered therapy, and brief therapy.
  • Offer individual, group, and family counseling sessions.
  • Consult with primary care and other medical personnel regarding psychological health issues.
  • Perform biopsychosocial evaluations and analyze psychological test results.
  • Support crisis intervention for youth facing psychological distress.
  • Monitor treatment plans, maintain clinical documentation, and manage cases in line with DoD and hospital policies.
  • Provide expert advice on child development, trauma, and treatment planning.
  • Engage in team case reviews, quality assurance, and contribute to enhancements in clinical programs.
Qualifications
  • Degree: PhD or PsyD in Clinical or Counseling Psychology.
  • Education: Graduate from an APA-accredited program.
  • Internship: Completion of an APA-accredited pre-doctoral internship.
  • Experience: Minimum of 1 year of relevant clinical experience with children/adolescents post-training within the last 2 years.
  • Licensure: Active, unrestricted psychology license from any U.S. jurisdiction.
  • Board Certification: Not required.
  • Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS); DEA certification is not necessary.
  • Citizenship: Must be a U.S. Citizen or possess legal authorization to work in the U.S.
Skills and Abilities
  • Strong understanding of child and adolescent development and psychopathology.
  • Proficient in psychological testing, diagnosis, and therapeutic interventions.
  • Experienced in using electronic medical records and documentation systems.
  • Able to thrive in fast-paced, multidisciplinary environments.
Additional Information
  • Schedule: Monday to Friday, 0730–1630; up to 40 hours per week. No on-call or weekend shifts.
  • Telework: May be available but is not guaranteed.
Work Environment

This role is based in a hospital/clinic setting within a military environment.

Physical Requirements

TB screening, Hepatitis B vaccination, and proof of immunizations are mandatory.
