School-Based Speech Language Pathologist Assistant - Roanoke, AL
Job Description
Step into a rewarding opportunity supporting students as a Speech-Language Pathology Assistant! This contract position is ready for an immediate start and will extend through the end of May 2027. With a full-time work week of 35 hours, you'll focus on helping K-12 students achieve communication success—a caseload that will be tailored to your strengths during the interview process.
Key Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology is required
- Active SLPA credentials/license, or eligibility, as per state guidelines
- Experience working with school-aged children, ideally in K-12 educational settings
- Strong communication and collaboration skills with students, teachers, and families
- Flexibility to adapt to a variety of student needs and a dynamic school environment
- Organizational skills to manage multiple responsibilities effectively
Primary Responsibilities:
- Provide direct speech and language interventions under the supervision of a licensed Speech-Language Pathologist
- Implement individualized education plans (IEPs) and document student progress
- Support classroom teachers in strategies for supporting students’ communication needs
- Participate in IEP meetings and contribute input regarding student progress and planning
- Maintain accurate records and data collection as required by the school and supervising SLP
- Foster a positive, encouraging learning environment for students of various backgrounds and ability levels
