Key Qualifications:

  • Valid teaching certification in Special Education (or eligibility to obtain)
  • Experience working with students with significant cognitive impairments
  • Strong understanding of differentiated instruction and IEP development
  • Ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, families, and support staff
  • Effective communication, organization, and leadership abilities
  • Commitment to creating a positive, inclusive, and structured classroom atmosphere

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Lead instruction for a caseload of 12 K-12 students, adapting curriculum to address diverse cognitive needs
  • Develop, implement, and monitor individualized education plans (IEPs), ensuring goals are met and progress is documented
  • Foster a safe, supportive, and engaging classroom culture, using evidence-based strategies tailored to individual strengths and challenges
  • Coordinate and collaborate with paraprofessionals, therapists, and related service providers to support comprehensive student development
  • Communicate regularly with families, providing updates on progress and supporting parent engagement
  • Participate in ongoing professional development to stay current on best practices in special education
