Pharmacist - Sterile Compounding
Location: Lake City, FL
Schedule: Monday – Friday, 7:30 AM – 4:30 PM
Job Type: Contract to Hire (13+ weeks)
This role integrates sterile compounding expertise with clinical pharmacy services in a fast-paced infusion pharmacy setting. The pharmacist will ensure regulatory compliance, oversee medication safety, and provide leadership to support high-quality patient care.
Responsibilities:
- Interpret, verify, and process physician medication orders with accuracy
- Perform and supervise sterile compounding in accordance with USP <797> and USP <800> standards
- Conduct final verification of compounded sterile preparations
- Review medication profiles for safety concerns including allergies, interactions, dosing, and compatibility
- Collaborate effectively with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals
- Supervise and mentor pharmacy technicians and support staff to maintain operational excellence
- Maintain cleanroom standards, aseptic technique, and environmental monitoring protocols
- Participate in quality assurance initiatives, medication safety audits, and continuous improvement efforts
- Ensure accurate documentation of compounding batches, quality checks, and regulatory compliance
- Assist with inventory management including controlled substances and general pharmacy operations
- Support development and implementation of pharmacy policies, procedures, and staff training programs
- Attend staff meetings and professional conferences to stay current with industry best practices
Qualifications:
- Active Florida Pharmacist license in good standing
- Minimum of one year of experience with hazardous and non-hazardous sterile compounding adhering to USP <797>, USP <800>, DEA, OSHA, and Board of Pharmacy regulations
- Strong communication skills and proven leadership ability
