Job Description
Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) degree, active Pharmacist license, and minimum 1+ years Pharmacist in Charge experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.
An opportunity is available for a pharmacy professional to serve as Interim Director of Pharmacy and Pharmacist in Charge (PIC) at a behavioral health facility with 165 licensed beds and an average daily census of 130. This contract position requires active West Virginia pharmacist licensure and offers a chance to lead pharmacy operations during a transitional period.
Location: Milton, WV
Job Type: Contract (starting 8/31/26 until permanent Director of Pharmacy is hired)
Schedule:
- Monday to Friday, 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM
- On-call coverage required after shifts and on weekends
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead staffing and administrative duties as the Pharmacist in Charge, ensuring smooth pharmacy operations
- Oversee pharmacy team that includes 1 full-time pharmacist, 4 per diem pharmacists, and 2.6 full-time equivalent technicians
- Manage tech support functions including order filling, delivery, and inventory control
- Utilize the HCS order entry system and Omnicell automation platform; training will be provided
- Collaborate onsite with the retiring Director of Pharmacy for seamless transition and training
- Maintain professional standards aligned with business casual dress code
Qualifications:
- Valid West Virginia pharmacist license (required)
- Experience in hospital pharmacy operations is highly preferred
- Familiarity with Omnicell automation systems is a strong asset
- Ability to handle administrative and staffing leadership responsibilities effectively
- Prior experience in behavioral health pharmacy services is advantageous
