Job Description
Passionate about fostering a love of language and literature? This is an excellent opportunity to inspire secondary students as an English Language Arts educator. This contract position begins August 2026 and runs through the end of May 2027, with a standard 37.5-hour workweek.
Desired Qualifications:
- Current Alabama Teacher’s Certification with an English endorsement (verify certification through the Alabama Department of Education website)
- Bachelor’s Degree or higher in English, Education, or a related field
- Experience teaching General Education English Language Arts at the secondary level a plus
- Proficient in integrating technology into classroom instruction
- Strong communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships with students, families, and colleagues
Primary Responsibilities:
- Create an engaging classroom environment that encourages learning and personal growth
- Establish a strong rapport with diverse students, fostering motivation and respect
- Encourage student development of 21st-century literacy skills through the creative use of technology
- Work collaboratively with parents, co-workers, and school visitors to support student success
- Maintain classroom management and implement instructional plans as directed by school leadership
- Take on other responsibilities as assigned by the principal
