Position Purpose

As a Food and Food Service Delivery Driver, you play an essential role in the nation's food supply chain. Our drivers ensure that customer products are delivered on time and in excellent condition, serving as the face of our organization and building lasting relationships with clients.

Key Responsibilities
  • Operate a tractor-trailer or straight truck for local, intrastate, and interstate deliveries, adhering to Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations.
  • Communicate professionally with customers, vendors, and colleagues, ensuring timely and accurate responses to inquiries.
  • Collaborate as a team member within the department and organization, performing any assigned duties to best serve the company.
  • Conduct all necessary safety checks (pre/post trip) on the vehicle and trailer, ensuring compliance with DOT regulations and company safety standards.
  • Inspect trailers for properly loaded and secured freight, performing item count checks and verifying customer invoices.
  • Move the tractor to the loading dock and attach preloaded trailers as necessary.
  • Ensure that the tractor, trailer, and freight are secured at all times.
  • Unload damaged goods and customer returns, completing necessary paperwork at the end of the shift.
  • Maintain daily records and adhere to hours of service requirements in compliance with DOT, state, and company policies.
  • Follow safety standards and guidelines for freight handling throughout the delivery process.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned and comply with all company policies and standards.
Qualifications
  • Education: High School Diploma/GED or equivalent experience.
  • Experience:
    • 6 months to 1 year of commercial driving experience.
    • Experience in the foodservice distribution industry.
    • Familiarity with onboard computer and electronic log systems (e.g., PeopleNet).
    • Experience with handheld point of delivery scanning systems (e.g., POD).
    • Background in customer service-related roles.
