Job Description

Our client is seeking a detail-oriented GPS Modeling & Takeoff Technician to support preconstruction and field operations by developing accurate machine control models, performing quantity takeoffs, and assisting project teams with site data management. This position plays a critical role in ensuring project accuracy, efficiency, and successful execution through the use of GPS technology, earthwork modeling software, and construction estimating tools. Description Develop and maintain GPS machine control models for grading, excavation, utility, and site development projects. Create accurate digital terrain models (DTMs) using plans, survey data, and engineering drawings. Perform earthwork quantity calculations and material takeoffs to support estimating and project planning activities. Review project specifications, plans, and bid documents to identify scope requirements and potential challenges. Collaborate with project managers, estimators, surveyors, and field teams to ensure model accuracy and constructability. Upload, manage, and troubleshoot GPS files for machine control systems. Provide technical support to field personnel regarding GPS equipment, machine control systems, and construction technology platforms. Assist in monitoring project quantities, production tracking, and progress reporting. Maintain organized project documentation, digital files, and model revisions. Stay current with industry software, GPS technologies, and construction best practices. Profile Experience with GPS machine control systems and construction technology platforms. Proficiency in takeoff and modeling software such as Agtek, Trimble Business Center, Civil 3D, Carlson, HCSS, or similar programs. Ability to read and interpret construction plans, survey data, engineering drawings, and specifications. Strong understanding of earthwork calculations, grading principles, and site construction processes. Excellent attention to detail with strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Effective communication and collaboration skills. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel. Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment. Associate's degree, technical certification, or equivalent experience in Construction Management, Civil Engineering Technology, Surveying, or a related field preferred.
