Job Description
Embark on a rewarding short-term assignment as a Special Education Teacher, supporting students and staff during a leave coverage period from September 15, 2026, through October 27, 2026. This contract, onsite opportunity offers meaningful engagement with students in a supportive school environment close to Bristol, CT.
What we’re looking for:
- Valid and active Special Education Teacher License for Connecticut
- Familiarity with any additional certifications required by the state or Board of Education
- Previous school-based experience in special education strongly preferred
- Ability to adapt curriculum and instruction to meet a variety of learning needs
- Experience collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to develop and implement IEPs
- Compassion, patience, and enthusiasm for helping students achieve their goals
What you’ll do:
- Provide direct instructional support to students with special needs in a structured, inclusive environment
- Adapt and modify lessons and classroom activities to accommodate individualized education plans (IEPs)
- Collaborate closely with general education teachers, related service providers, and school administration to ensure comprehensive support for each student
- Monitor student progress, collect data, and participate in IEP meetings as needed
- Ensure a safe and supportive classroom atmosphere
- Maintain accurate records and documentation as required by the district
